See the above hyperlink, it is creating a backlink to the site it is pointing to. I mainly only create backlinks to my own websites, pages and blogs. It doesn't make too much sense to get to the top of the search engines and have links to other sites so the visitors can leave you webpage.

Always try to point the links to your sites only! There are some exceptions and you will learn how to take advantage of the exceptions.

If you have your own domain name, it will work better on Google if the domain is aged. When I have purchased domains, I have noticed that the new ones tend to go into a so called sandbox for an unknown amount of time.

If you have a blog or blogger and you post some information into your blog, then create a hyperlink in that blog and point links to the site you want to give a better page ranking.
